I'd been shopping for a computer to replace my 5 year old Lenovo second gen i5 ThinkPad. My goal was to find something that would exceed my current needs, so I'd be somewhat future-proof. With an 8th gen i7, 8gb RAM and 256SSD, I think that I'm relatively safe. The RAM can be expanded. Would have been nice to have a larger SSD, but 256 is pretty workable with cloud and external storage so readily available. At first, I had some concerns about the keyboard, with its essentially flat keys, but I quickly got used to it. The screen is great, with excellent sharpness and color, and minimal bezel. Two areas that could be better are the battery life (which seems average) and connectivity. I wasn't all that familiar with USB-C and found it necessary to order adapters/cables to connect with existing external devices. I have a couple of extra power bricks for my ThinkPad, so adapters (from Lenovo's old square power connector to USB-C) were needed to allow connection to the new S940. I will buy a hub for my office use (when we are all able to return to the office) which should be helpful. The S940 delivers a lot of computing power in a sturdy, let lightweight package. Unless you really need the most current processor, the 8th gen S940 is a great value.Read full review
