Product Description
Bose hear phones are conversation-enhancing headphones that are specially designed to help you focus on the voices you want to hear, and reduce the noises you don't. The innovative technology Bose has used for decades to let you hear every note of your music now helps you hear every word of your conversations. Hear phones allow you to better engage with others, whether it's at a noisy party, a restaurant or coffee shop. Always-on active noise reduction technology and the world volume setting (which controls the Loudness of voices, TV and other sounds) work to filter out background noise and amplify what you want to hear. Directional microphones in each earbud let you focus on voices directly in front of you. Or you can focus on the sounds all around you. Hear phones work for a wide range of situations: one-on-one conversations, Group conversations, watching television at a preferred volume that's different than others and listening to music. Control some Features from a five-button inline remote on the headphones themselves, or use the Bose hear app for total control over your settings. Keep your conversations going all day long with up to 10 hours of battery life from a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. It fully charges in less than 3 hours. Secure and comfortable stay hear+ ear tips are made of soft silicone for all-day wearability. They also form a gentle seal in your ear to aid in reducing the noises around you. The tips come in three sizes so you can find the right fit for you. Bose hear phones are also wireless headphones, and deliver the premium sound you expect from Bose. In addition to enhancing your conversations, you can use them as everyday noise cancelling headphones for your music and phone calls.

The hearing aides go behind my ears with an almost invisible wire that loops around into my ears. I forget sometimes that I’m wearing them. The app for the hearing aides stays connected to the hearing aides and has tons more controls and settings the hearing aides batteries last for days before needing to be changed out. They don’t get recharged, the batteries get switched out so the hearing aides have no down-time. You can listen to music and get phone calls through the hearing aides. You can also use the microphone on your iPhone as a remote Bluetooth microphone.
In conclusion: there are some situations where the hearing aides are better, and other situations where the Bose is better. For me, having both is best.
My particular hearing loss: mostly deaf in my left ear with chronic tinnitus. Hearing loss in left ear is mostly in the low/bass frequencies . No directional hearing. My right ear is partially deaf with hearing loss mostly in the midrange to upper frequencies.
My overall current sense after 48 hours is that I will keep these Hearphones as the pros outweigh the cons and the future potential issues. I will post an update when I approach the 30 day mark and have had more experience.
Pros:
• I can now hear the upper register of sounds again and it is wonderful. I did not know what I was missing.
• The battery life seems spot on I went 8 hours and had 20% charge remaining.
• I do not normally like ear buds, but these are comfortable so far.
• The quality of noise cancellation is excellent. I was at an annual holiday party where the music gets to 95 dB on average. Last year I could not hear anything and went hoarse from talking loudly and had to move to the vestibule for the last hour. This year I was able to hear all the conversations with no problem even when the music was cranked up, I just lowered the world setting and increased the treble a bit.
• Thus far I have been out in the wind of about 15 MPH and get no feedback or whistling at all. Even facing into the wind.
• I like the user interface in the iPhone app, but I think an advanced version with an equalizer look and feel would be easier to tune as I have had problems with that process with just the two dials method.
Cons:
• As others have noted the collar seems a necessary evil. I suppose it is required for the battery, but it can be cumbersome to keep straight without a collared shirt. I wear collars to work, but T-Shirts around the house. The collar has gotten turned around a couple of times when putting on a coat or jacket to go out of the house.
• As mentioned by others I noticed that others hear me speaking lower now and sometimes need to strain themselves to hear me speaking normal because there is not good feedback of my own voice.
• I have also noticed that eating anything “crunchy” like croutons, Peanuts, Potatoes Chips I get massive feedback through my jaw bones to my inner ear which gets amplified I would estimate 3 times louder.
• When there is a sudden change in pressure that would normally not cause sound this can be interpreted as sound and is quite loud at times, for example when I get into a vehicle and I or a passenger closes their door normally it causes a low booming sound.
• The iPhone app has a widget that is nice, but I would like to be able to select profiles from the widget also.
Future Potential Issues:
• I normally use the cups over the ears like the QC15. I have not had a long term use of the earphones yet which are generally comfortable, but I already have had to take them out of my ears a couple of times after 3+ hours to eliminate some moisture building up inside my ears where normally the ear canals are open to air to dry after a shower or swim.
• The built-in battery, if like other consumer electronics, may begin to degrade in longevity of charge after some indeterminate time. I can keep my cell phone on charge often while travelling as I do not use it all the time, but turning off the Hearphones to charge them means I lose the ability to hear as well during that charging time. I am uncertain at this early stage, but this could become an issue.
