Plug and play, couldnt be easier

Just plugged it in and it was ready to go. Its not blazzingly fast since internally it uses a spin drive. But its great to be able to easily transport up to 4TB of data. Included cable is around 12 inches in length. Be aware that since this is 4TB it is formatted with NTFS and is a GPT not MBR drive. Older operating systems may not recognize it so just FYI. 2 year warranty. It comes with Discovery software for Windows and Mac but if you go to WD site there is a lot of software you can download for backup, etc. Its a tad chunky but still can be carried in a shirt pocket. I use it to store movies and its quick enough doing transfers. Also included was a SanDisk (WD owns them now) 32GB easystore thumb-drive, which was a nice throw-in for the price. It comes with secure access software but I did not use it. Most of my internal drives have been WD and have had years of great use with them. Have not had WD portable drives before so will see how it goes. All in all a nice drive.....

Great External Drive

Great Portable HDD For PS4

I highly reccomend this external hdd if you have s lot of PS4 games.

Great Portable Hard Drive for Laptop Computers.

I can connect it using a USB port on my laptop computer giving power and saving my Important files. It also included with a free 32 GB flash drive.

Come with spare 32 pen drive , but it come with only one port. It’s small and light just fit on palm, less sound as compare to My old Toshiba 1 TB. Serve my purpose on windows as well as Ubuntu OS. Surely recommend for backup purpose

A little slow when transferring large data

Its been an year now and it never corrupted or anything. Its decently priced too for the amount of storage you are getting.

- A:Answer Yes BUT the Xbox One will reformat the drive so any backup software or anything else on the drive will be removed via the reformat. You can use it on the Xbox One without a reformat BUT you can not save any game or game data. It will take a while to "move" your games and any add-ons to the external drive. You can also copy your data as a backup but it will only work on the machine having the original data / games.

Q: QuestionI just recieved this and the drive is only 3.63TB available on the drive, my question is why is this drive 370GB less than the 4TB posted? I know that some sofeware is required to be on the drive but not 370GB worth.

- A:Answer Hard drive manufacturers use bytes to sell their drives. In reality, GB is the measurement. To have 4GB, you need 4,294,967,296 bytes. The drive has 4,000,000,000 bytes or 3.72529GB. 1024 bytes = 1kb 1024 kb = 1mb 1024 mb = 1gb 1024 X 1024 X 1024 = GB So 4,000,000,000/1024/1024/1024 = 3.72529GB

Q: QuestionI have a Mac and connected the cord to the iMac and the new WD external hard drive. When I click on time machine is says it a back up disc is not available. How do I format this and get it to recognize the new WD?

- A:Answer It depends on what OS you’re running, but WD support has a web page dedicated to this very issue. I’ll attempt to post a link here. - A:Answer I own Mac/Apple products and work has PCs. I own 4 of these and use them on both. Simply Google formatting an external drive for Mac and PC, and you should be good to go. These things are great!

- A:Answer Yes, all of the WD easystore drives that I have come with USB cords as they have a special high-speed connection for the data drive. Interchangeable among the WD drives.
